Biography

Biography

A Los Angeles childhood split across two coasts, retail and interior work before the cameras, nine years on set, and a retirement she had been talking about for years.

Los Angeles, 1977

Brittney Skye was born on November 5, 1977 in Los Angeles, California. Her own bio gives that date and place, and IAFD records the same birthplace; some film databases carry a different city, which her own account does not support.

Part of her schooling happened on Long Island, at Southampton High School in New York, before she finished in California. She has described herself as a restless student with a snowboard habit, and she worked in a retail store and as a designer of children's bedrooms before any film work.

The stage name needs one note. Databases list a dozen spellings, and 2005 to 2007 press wrote her name as Britney or Brittany Skye as often as Brittney Skye. The legal name that survives in documents is Brandie Rae Rothwell, which is how she is named in the 2003 court report of the U.S. Open case.

Nine years on camera, 2001 to 2010

Her first hardcore scene came in 2001, when she was in her early twenties. Early credits follow in 2002: Shane's World 30: Keepin' It Real, Snoop Dogg's Hustlaz: Diary of a Pimp and The Violation of Ashley Blue among them.

The Shane's World series became her longest association, with the College Invasion titles inside it. Beyond that she shot for New Sensations, Hustler Video, Digital Playground and Nicole London's Outback Productions, and she led the feature Spunn, a take-off of the film Spun, playing a character she asked to be renamed Brittney.

She was unusual in one respect: she never accepted studio exclusivity. A deal signed with Sineplex Entertainment on November 14, 2003 was amended ten days later so that it granted none, and in interviews she said she wanted to work for herself. Her own bio puts her credits at more than 338 titles; databases that keep counting run higher.

The 2003 U.S. Open

On June 15, 2003, during the final round of the U.S. Open at Olympia Fields, she ran onto the green with GoldenPalace.com written across her chest and back and tried to hand Jim Furyk a flower. It was a paid promotion for an online casino, and it went out live on national television.

The charge was one count of disorderly conduct. She missed an initial court date on July 24, 2003 and a new date was set; the case is recorded under the name Brandie Rae Rothwell. Furyk, for his part, said afterwards that he had not seen her, and he went on to win the championship.

Directing, Ninn Worx, and one mainstream credit

Her directing career runs from 2003 to 2006 and covers six titles: Brittney's Perversions 1, 2 and 3, Brittney's Lipstick Lesbians, Pink Paradise 1 and Sexpose' 3: Brittney Skye.

Michael Ninn put her at the centre of two features, Exposed: Brittney Skye and Evoke: Brittney Skye, both released by Ninn Worx in 2005. He had already directed her in Porn Star, and the scene from it, opposite Tommy Gunn, won Best Couples Sex Scene, Video at the 23rd AVN Awards on January 7, 2006. The same ceremony nominated her for Female Performer of the Year and for Best Actress, Video, for Prisoner.

Film work outside the industry stayed small. She is credited as a porn actress, uncredited, in The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), and she appears as herself in the 2009 documentary Naked Ambition: An R Rated Look at an X Rated Industry. TMDB also carries three television entries, two of them appearances as herself at awards shows.

What she said about the work

The interviews that survive are blunt about the job. She disliked the waiting most of all and said she would rather stay home than spend a day on a set. She refused to feature-dance throughout her career, telling AdultFYI in 2005 that the idea frightened her, at a time when club touring was the standard second income for performers.

She was a committed MMA and UFC fan, attended fights regularly through the 2000s and modelled for the MMA clothing label TapOut. Asked to name co-stars, she picked Nacho Vidal as her favourite male performer, in 2003 and again in 2005, and Belladonna as her favourite female one.

Her long-stated plan was to retire early. She said in 2005 that she wanted a house to furnish, a dog and what she called a white picket fence, and joked that the next item on the list was finding a husband.

Retirement and after

IAFD dates her performing years 2001 to 2010 and TMDB states plainly that she retired from the business in 2010; other databases put the end at 2009. Everything released after that is compilation or archive footage, some of it issued as recently as 2025.

The one public channel she has kept is her own: the X account @brittneyskye69, created on April 21, 2009 and still live, which IAFD lists as her website. Nothing verifiable has been published about her life since she stopped working.
